The Walk!

One of the most importatn things that you can do with your dog is "THE WALK"

Done properly, this can become a very useful tool in controlling your dog's behavior.

By your side?

One of the things missing from our dogs daily life is the MIGRATION. Movement from point A to point B.

This should be walking with a purpose. In this picture, we see the typical walk. Dog leading the way, doing what HE wants. At this point, the leash is merely restraining how far he can go.

In the dog world, there are 2 postions in their social structure... LEADER and FOLLOWER! Which are you???

In order for your dog to perceive YOU as their leader... YOU MUST LEAD!!!

Doing What?

Here we see the dog sniffing at the ground. In most cases, it will be checking out everything along the path and peeing on everything! (especially in UN-nuetered males).

Again, the dog is deciding what the walk will be!!! WHO'S IN CHARGE??? THE DOG! and he knows it!

Back to the MIGRATION. With the dog at your side or behind you, MIGRATE (NO STOPPING!) to a destination. Once there, allow, potty break and exploraion. Then Migrate home.
