It is amazing the various answers we get to this question. We were contacted by a couple who had never had a dog and they wanted the basics. They were not sure if they were calling us too soon. The people they had talked with told them they would have to wait until the dog was a year old. Others told them 6 months. Everyone has an opinion here!
With normal “OBEDIENCE” training… This may be true! Puppies are full of energy! How can we possible get the puppy to learn word commands when we can’t hold it’s attention for more that a few minutes? YOU CAN’T!
However, DOG PSYCHOLOGY works differently! We take advantage of the dog’s BUILT IN communication methods!
The truth is… IT IS NEVER TOO SOON! Think about it… Mother dog starts setting the rules from day one! A word is never spoken… But the puppy understands.
The sooner one establishes oneself as the puppies "Pack Leader," The less problems you will have down the road!
